Bourns offers two distinct product families — The Standard Series ‘Max. and High-Duty’ 8 mm GDTs and the Heavy-Duty ‘Mini Series’ 5 mm GDTs. Surface mount versions are available in two and three electrode models for “pick and place” assembly techniques. The robust nature of the Bourns' 8 mm two- and three-electrode GDTs provides 300% more impulse life as compared to competitors' devices, providing the maximum life for your product and safety to the end user. The 8 mm GDTs feature optional proprietary Switch-Grade failsafe providing continuous fault current protection of over 60 ARMS continuous duty. Bourns GDTs also feature the industry's highest surge current carrying capability and many lead configurations well-suited to standard industry applications. The Bourns Mini 5 mm two- and three-electrode GDT offer space saving up to 60% over the larger 8 mm style. The Bourns ‘Mini’ boasts performance rivaling that of competitors' larger 8 mm GDT devices. The 5 mm Series also includes the Bourns proprietary switch-grade failsafe. The 5 mm GDT comes in many industry standard lead configurations making the use of the miniature GDT versatile and convenient. Bourns GDTs comprise the industry's widest standard offering of DC spark-over voltages, (DCBD) from 75 V to 600 V. Bourns GDTs will meet or exceed virtually all industry specifications and standards that govern the use of Gas Discharge Tubes — ITU, IEC, Telcordia (Bellcore), UL, and RUS.
