OSRAM Dragon Dome Series IR LEDs
The SFH 4783 Dragon Dome IR LED, from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, provides a high infrared light output focused into a narrow (±12°) beam angle. The latest thin-film technology enables light to be extracted efficiently from the chip. A forward current of 1A the SFH 4783 IR LED typically achieves a 430 mA total radiated power, hence a radiant intensity of 2.4W/sr. This radiant intensity allows the emitted beam to have a usable range of more than 100 m. However this range depends on the sensitivity and field of view of the camera used. The SFH 4783 Dragon Dome IR LED is ideal for applications that need strong focused infrared light to provide reliable illumination over large distances. These include outdoor CCTV surveillance systems (for example, border crossings or airports) and infrared illumination for cameras and machine vision systems. The Dragon Dome has an integrated metallic reflector and lens produce the narrow light beam so that secondary optics are unnecessary. Thus keeping down system costs and allowing designs to be kept compact.
